Just remembered that a year ago yesterday we won the bid for our house.  In two more month’s, we will have been there for a year.  It’s crazy how fast a year can go by (and how not much has changed with the house!).  Even with the flaws and I’m sure major work to be done at some point, I love our house so much and feel so lucky that we got it.  It’s the perfect neighborhood...

The painter will be done tomorrow and the house is looking fabulous.  Anything is better than the plaster marks everywhere from when the electrical was done and the bright purple and green kiddie rooms.  Someday, I may feel differently about these colors. I’ll post picks once it’s all done.  Still a long way to go but a huge improvement for now.

Had a Toronto girls night out tonight.  It was fun but, I have to admit, it was not as much fun as when I’m with MY girls…you know who you are.  Miss you all so much…really looking forward to seeing some of you in less than a month (wish you could all be here).  :)

After way too many games played, I FINALLY WON!  I guess my made-up words worked.  Thank you gavot and jaup.

The words I used with Words with Friends tonight: Feater Gavot Jaup Rotos Does anyone even know what those words mean?  I had to look them up on the Internet, after I played them.  I am DETERMINED to beat Ryan as he kills me every time.

We were suppose to get a ton of snow this morning.  All it is doing is raining outside.  Wet snow is expected if temperatures start to drop which I’m hoping they don’t.  If I heard correctly, we have gotten a total of 6 inches of snow in Toronto all winter.  Lets cross our fingers this keeps up.  Best part about the morning, Ryan gave me a ride so I got here at 8am again!  That makes...

Elevators...
From an email just sent out: “The high-rise elevators are stopping on each floor, so we recommend that you add 20 minutes to your travel time if you are headed to a client meeting.” The high-rise elevators are for floors 16 - 26 and as I mentioned before, I am on the 23rd floor.  Glad I brought lunch today.  This is becoming very comical.

Today...
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone.  I hope you all are able to enjoy the day with loved ones whether it be a significant other, family or friends. Valentine’s Day has never bothered me or excited me for that matter.  For all of my teens and my early twenties I spent every year alone.  Which was honestly fine by me.  When I did meet Ryan, we lived 4 hours apart and I spent the first 3...

2/11 - Makes you happy - our new king bed that was delivered yesterday.  It’s massive.  Please excuse the bedding - we have to buy new now that we have upgraded.  And excuse the lights that are now way too low and I’m debating about getting rideof as I don’t like the lamp shades and I can’t swap them out. 2/12 - Inside your closet.  Sadly, that’s not even half of...

The elevators are now working.  Someone just needs to tell the building that 2 out of the 5 stalls in the bathroom have NO toilet paper.  And one of the ones that does has a light out so the already dark stall is super dark right now.  My new building could use some major improvements.

The elevators in my building are currently not working.  I work on the 23rd floor.  Hopefully this gets cleared up in the next few hours or else it’s going to be a long trip down to the bottom after work today. Update:  1 elevator out of 6 is working - but you are not to press the “up” or “down” button.  Instead, there is a person in the elevator that will stop on...

So glad I worked from home today.  My co-worker just messaged me to say the following (the Oasis is our kitchen area with seating): “Well, you missed the lunch show at the Oasis.  You know the girl near me with the platinum blond streaks on top of her dark hair?  Evidently something didn’t go down right and she booted all over the carpet in the hallway on the way to the Oasis and the...

Thursday workout...
A late update…I did make it to the gym on Thursday for my class even though I was very sore.  And it was worth it - I was no more sore Friday than I was on Thursday.  And it didn’t feel that difficult which is probably due to the other workouts I did during the week to build up to it.  We started with 15 minutes of cardio and then did this workout.  If you are limited with time, do it...

We currently have squirrels getting into our attic.  I’ve never been in the attic so who knows how big it is and how many are nesting up there.  I know they are staying for periods of time (and planning on making a home up there) as they are bringing things in with them and I can hear them scratching and running around up there.  Why the previous owners did not take care of this when they...

Last night I hit up a class with my friend Shali at Flirty Girl Fitness.  It’s a decent sized studio with 3 rooms and only classes.  I thought it would be a fun way to see my friend but also get a good work-out in, rather than sitting around chatting, drinking too much red wine and eating pub food.  It’s a pretty expensive place ($20/class for walk in) but, I opted to buy a 10 class...

My workout schedule really lacked last week. As in I went 0 times. Tons of excuses - I didn’t go Sunday as I went Saturday, I skipped Monday as I wanted to go home after work and watch the SU game, Tuesday we went to see the baby, Wednesday and Thursday I worked late, Friday we had a dinner and Saturday I worked some more and was lazy. I’m sure I could have squeezed in a workout...

I’ve been a bad blogger lately.  My life has been kind of “meh” since the holidays with lots of saving for our house.  The weekend was calm - some work and cleaning on Saturday. Sunday was the best though.  We got to see my nephew who is now just over 5 days old.  He is such a gorgeous baby.  I got to hold him for a bit which I have to admit made me nervous as he’s 8...

Well, I am an Aunt! Virginia and Darren gave birth to their little boy Rory early this evening. And he is one handsome little boy.  Sorry  for  keeping it a secret to the blog world these past 9 months. I didn’t want to make the announcement until he arrived.

Workout...
So my bootcamp class has changed names to SPA (speed, power and agility).  Last Thursday was honestly one of the hardest workouts I have ever done.  We did the entire workout - each top 10 4 times.  Honestly, if you have 10-20 minutes, do this workout.  It’s extremely hard and very rewarding.  And if you are looking for a good workout timer, try this one.  I used it when I did a workout...

Just finished a 5k run at the gym in 29:40.  Not the best time as my record was set last Monday at 29:35 but still good.  And awesome that I made it to the gym on the weekend as I almost never go.  It was a huge struggle today…probably because it was Saturday, I hadn’t really had proper food/water yet and I had three glasses of wine last night.  But, I made it through. Now back to my...

Horrible commute today.  I walked the short distance to the end of the street and decided that I would be catching the bus to the subway rather than making the additional 5 minute walk down to the streetcar and then, depending on the streetcar I got, making the 6-12 minute walk to work…in the rain.  This decision mostly came about as my umbrella had already flipped inside out and I had...

I just had lunch with a co-worker of mine who spent a month in Hong Kong - mostly for her sister’s wedding but also to see family.  Her family is originally from there but she grew up in Canada. Let me bullet point a few “hightlights” of her trip: 1. She went to China to visit family and go for a massage (a 3 hour massage costs around $20 due to the cheap labor).  She was with...

5k personal best at the gym today - 29:35! Big improvement from my time of over 35 minutes a month ago. Ryan also had a personal best with 23:53. Good start to our running routine as we just started to work on our times. Healthy dinner tonight too of white fish and salad.

Just got the list of items I have to start working for my Canadian Residency.  Holy cow…this is going to be a very long and expensive process.  Not looking forward to it at all.
